CLOSING LINES
ENDING / FINAL LINES
The 10 best closing lines of books: The most memorable literary payoffs, from the chilling to the poetic
* A rainy day...a book...a cup of coffee...that's all I need!!
* Life is a penalty kick. U decide either to be the kicker or goalie! No matter what happens after the shoot,...Why to bother about the end, when the journey is good? I have never been fascinated by the ending lines, I care only for the plot and for the flow ..
Allegiant, by Veronica Roth
Since I was young, I have always known this: Life damages us, every one. We can't escape that damage. But now, I am also learning this: We can be mended. We mend each other.
The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (by Mark Twain)
But I reckon I got to light out for the Territory ahead of the rest, because Aunt Sally she’s going to adopt me and sivilize me and I can’t stand it.
@ This is a heartbreaker. Twain rounds off his masterpiece by saying that Huck Finn is fated, like all Americans, to an incessant quest for the challenge of the frontier. For sheer teenage disaffection, it’s matched by the last line of Catcher in the Rye: “Don’t tell anybody anything. If you do, you start missing everybody.”
The Catcher in the Rye, by J.D. Salinger's
Don’t ever tell anybody anything. If you do, you start missing everybody.
@ He (it could have easily been a she) warns you to stop reminiscing about the past (don’t tell anything because you will, then, miss everybody. ‘Everybody’ includes people who are part of the story and the listener. Because when you start to reminisce about the past, you miss old times with the people you were close to- people who make the story. Because when you confide in someone, you get closer to them. You will miss them when they are away. When they will leave you, which they do invariably, it will make you miserable and lonelier.
Just this single sentence tells you the entire story. It tells you that it is a story of someone who is incredibly lonely and intolerably alienated. It tells you that he is desperately trying to find something- someone to hold on to and he is yet to find someone reliable; someone who will not leave him. In a way, ‘not telling anybody’ is a pre-emptive measure against all too often departure of people.
The secret (byVinayak Bodake)
The earth turns on its orbit for You. The oceans ebb and flow for You. The birds sing for You. The sun rises and it sets for You. The stars come out for You. Every beautiful thing you see, every wondrous thing you experience, is all there, for You. Take a look around. None of it can exist, without You. No matter who you thought you were, now you know the Truth of Who You Really Are. You are the master of the Universe. You are the heir to the kingdom. You are the perfection of Life. And now you know The Secret. May the joy be with you!
@ The secret is the answer to all that has been, all that is, and all that will ever be.”
